Corner beads are used in drywall finishing for two purposes: first, to support and strengthen corners, and second, to conceal the obvious seam between the two different drywall boards and provide a smooth 90-degree angle. Due of their susceptibility to wear and tear, corner beads are normally only utilized on outside corners.
